Now it was Nebula's turn to allow a bout of laughter to lift from her being. Soft and raspy, but not terribly painful to hear. The big cat swung her head, shaking as small rolls of chuckles continued to escape her. "Ahh, I am solitery and a carnivore." Due to Nebula still being young, she hadn't reached her full strength. And when chasing down a fawn was more likely to fail rather than if she went after something small, she'd have a higher chance at catching it.
No, she silently wished though, that her brothers were here. They would have loved to laugh and learn about these wolves along with her. More likely to crack jokes and make fun times too, yes, these thoughts gave her a comforted feeling. "You wolves, you do not eat berries, correct?" Nebula had in fact seen it before, when prey was little to nothing, she'd witnessed the few wolves begin and devour berries and other foliage.

Tris shrugs "Well, my kind do from time to time, though much of the pack does not. I do hope you will be alright that there is a Cougar aligned with us who lives in this Valley as well. He's very sweet natured." She rose and crouched a bit, tail waving she sprang forward to the feline, nose pressing to her elegant chest fur. "It is good you came out here, in the Cross Roads, had you come out in the other side of the river...that is Shadow Hive, they are not so friendly as us." she warns, being polite about the Shadow Hive's nature.

Nebula had encountered Dust before a frown forming upon her short muzzle. "I've come into contact with them before, not of good hearts at all." She said, not seeming to care about whether she was being polite. "They liked to think of me as a house cat?" She questioned, Nebula was unsure of the ways of even humans. Not once had she seen one and only knew of what she'd been told.
"I hear that is an insult, but I'm not sure how." Nebula explained, looking around cautiously. Slightly worried one of Shadow Hive would somehow manage to hear her even with Tris around.

Tris too is confused by that and shrugs a little "I'm not sure, I suppose if they have wolves who gave up the wild to be Dogs there must be Felines who gave up their wildness to be Cats. You are not in any case." She caught the worried look and looked around too, unsure. "You'll see none of the Hive here, we are on the southern most edge of Cross Roads, the end of the Ashes starts free territory, towards the plains." Tris on her part is fascinated by the Plains and their near flat vastness. She had come from them, along the mountain edge before joining in the creation of the Cross Roads itself. Since that time she has not left her hilly home.

A grin sprawls scross her feline features, a bout of laughter rising into the soot filled air. Light and childish, it slowly withered away to mere giggles. "I am a carnivore, usually small things." She reclined, leaning on her back paws and using her front paws to make motions for small. Putting her front paws close together, balancing with ease.
Putting her front paws back upon the ground with a small cloud of soot, she studied Tris. Her head tilting this way and that, it was Tris' fur that ever intrigued her. Reds, unlike any wolf she'd ever seen. Quickly snapping her attention back to the female, she hoped she didn't seem rude. "I'm curious, how many reside under your command?" The big cat inquired. Raising a paw, she rubbed it down her face, trying to rid herself of the annoying itch upon the bridge of her nose.

Tris smiles at the question and rises, "Come with me, you can meet them. There are many who align with Cross Roads itself, I'd venture to even say twenty wolves with those who choose their solitude out here in the far south reach, but the core pack is only about ten of us, not counting myself. There are other species that have joined us though."
She is getting a little away from the ashes and coughs, digging may not have been the best idea, but it was still worth it to her. She looks forward to seeing the new life in the spring. New life... Her ears flick back just a moment, is she pregnant now? did it work? she was not sure.

"I sure hope you wolves get thicker coats." Her tone was teasing, a cheeky smile contorting her lips. She spoke of the changing seasons, the winter that would soon be upon them. Yet she was eager for snow to fall upon the ground and fill the territory with white. Blankets upon blankets of frost for her to wander amongst. Looking behind her to the desolate wasteland, she studied it contently. Eerie, not a soul to be seen. What it had once been, must have been grand to thrive in. Climbing amongst the twisted tree branches and simply enjoying the peace that forests brought. Yes, it must have been sheer bliss.
Finally she addressed Tris' words with a spark of curiosity, "I would enjoy meeting your pack." In a way, she felt almost honoured to be invited. There was this sense that packs were tightly knitted and it was somehow impossible to even be greeted by one without the fear of being harmed.
No, someone as kind hearted as Tris would not lead such a pack. Tightly knitted, but still open to all who walked amongst them.

Tris chuckled, "mine does not get so thick as some of the others. I tend to stay close to home when winter strikes, close to the mountains and cliff face where we den." It is where they den now, yes, but she may choose different. "I have no pups of my own as yet, but the surviving pup of my old Alpha I have taken as mine to groom into the next. She's a sweet sweet thing, and would love to meet you I am sure. She will lead well, better than I perhaps, though shy still now."
She looks at Nebula with a smile, perhaps she'd know how some of the young can be, either so forward and playful, or quiet and well tempered. Often so it was the quiet shy ones that grew up to be wonderful and outspoken leaders.
"You've come rather far yes Nebula? I'm sorry that it takes about a day to get down this far, that's why the marshals reside out here, watching for new ones and keeping their space in turn. If you'd like to rest soon." should they carry on towards home they would get there around noon, perhaps a bit before. an easy breeze had kicked up, blowing away from them more south...ashes spreading like ghosts across the vast golden plains. Fall was looming, that was certain, many leaves half started to change already, and acorns were falling.

She listened to Tris speak, smiling as she spoke of this adopted child. Nebula found it noble, that Tris would take on a pup who was not of her own blood. "I would be delighted in meeting the cub." Nebula answered, it seemed her lack of wolf knowledge still would show true. Speaking of wolf pups often as 'cubs' or even when she isn't thinking, 'kittens'. Every curious, Nebula was eager to see their den.
The mountains, oh the mountains. She loved the rocky terrain where she had free range to climb amongst the rocks and stare over grand areas. A yawn suddenly bursted from Nebula's short muzzle, the times of travelling had worn down her usual energy. "I will gladly follow after you, to wherever you should lead me." She said, the thought of a den was a good one indeed. It brought up pleasant memories of her brothers once more, always her brothers.
"Do other animals sleep with the wolves?" Nebula asked curiously, wondering if she was to establish her own den. Then, her thoughts drifted to Tris' words about another big cat who lived amongst the wolves. Coming to the conclusion that she would find this other feline, if she needed shelter. It seemed all that was on this feline's mind was in fact rest and blissful sleep was welcoming her whenever she wished for it.

Tris considers this "You know the other species tend to drift off of their own direction, but I would not mind should you choose to stay around us to sleep." a small kind of smile had danced across her face at hearing cub, she thought that was funny and cute. it must be what her kind's young are called.
"As for ourselves tonight we should rest soon." She'd caught the yawn and yawned in turn...even cross species yawns were contagious! Her ears flicked back as she yawned and it ended with a weird noise, a cross of a whine and a yelp, but she shook her head and was fine. The forest was cooler, you could tell Fall was hitting it, and the further they got the more it seemed to have struck the middle and was radiating away. A great bomb shell of cool calm weather that would leave in it's wake barren trees and blankets of snow.

She nodded her large head, a slight smile crawling onto her own features as she watched Tris yawn. Rising, Nebula stretched weary muscles and shook away the excess ashes that had sought refuge in her fur. A breeze blew once more, there was just this crisp fall scent, all of it's own. It filled Nebula's senses, a shiver surging down her spine.
"Resting, would be nice." The big cat murmered, nodding her head gently in agreement. Nebula began to walk passed Tris, yet stopped. Unsure of where to go, she looked back to the wolf for a sense of direction. "Do you know of any shelter near here?" While the feline would usually sleep anywhere in the day time, when night fell, she would only sleep in temporary dens.
It was just the sense of shelter, to know that she was not out in the open and vulnerable. As a much smaller yawn escaped her once more, the cat made a smacking noise with her mouth. With the feelings of rest washing over her, Nebula truly began to feel how far she had actually travelled. Paw pads and muscles all began to give a slight ache, wishing for her to just stop moving for a few hours.

Tris looked north and closed her eyes a moment leaning forward on her toes. "hmmmm" rises from her throat as she draws a long breath, her sharp muzzle parting just slightly to help taste more. "Does it smell like rain?" she asks, not sure if it's rain or just a cool moist air.
She knows a place to stay all the same, which will do them both well though if it's going to rain this makes it better. "I do know a place, about an hour walk from here, if you'll help me look in the dark, it's a clearing with a huge rock pile in the middle of it. That's what we're looking for." she does not need the help much, but includes Nebula in the hunt for this spot so her companion does not feel like she's just tagging along.

Nebula's mouth lays agape, inhaling deeply to taste the air. She closes her mouth, every sensory working quickly to decide on if the rain was about to come. "I do believe it does." There was a shudder after those words. Rain, rain, rain, Nebula couldn't take the scent of her wet fur. Nor could she handle the feeling of her fur being wet, cold sure, but wet was a no. Her gaze rose to the sky, "I hope we find it soon, I don't do rain." She mused, the typical feline.
Looking to Tris, having heard that it wasn't far off she nodded. "Just lead us in the general direction, of course I'll help." It seemed Nebula, while tired, was always ready to give Tris a helping paw. Awaiting for Tris to take the lead, the feline had began glaring at the sky once more. Winter was coming, oh that spiteful winter. There was a shiver at the thought, winter, winter, winter.

Black sturdy paws stalked in around the feline and wolf communicating. Sloth was bored, and believed it would be interested as to what was happening between the two. Realizing that nothing exciting was going to happen, Sloth stepped out of the bushes, in front amounts the two animals. "Greetings feline and wolf, I am Sloth." Her bulky tail flicked around.

Tris had lead on, a comfortable silence blooming, nothing tense, but calm and restful, starts gleamed overhead where clouds did not yet obstruct. The Ashy expanses left behind in turn for red, gold, brown and green as autumn broke over them. The air becoming cleaner, though more electrified with the coming storm...
They were so close, just over the hill! She could feel it! But no...she is weary so company presents itself. "There is a storm coming...Sloth...Can't you feel it? Come along." She wanted rest, and went on her way. There! A rocky outcrop rose up in a clearing, by it a lone young Cherry Tree. She poked her nose a bit here and there and found the entrance behind some bushes. A heavy mist was starting to fall. They were just in time!
Inside the tunnel Tris lay down, her fore paws cross one over the other and then her head tops it neatly. "This Tunnel" she explains "runs up to behind the main dens. It's large enough for a lot of things to get through. I'm not sure how long it's been here though, but it's very stable." It's also bone dry inside where they are, but in the distance down the yawning expanse water is dripping.
