The History of the
Altus Curator Regnum Bestia (High Guardian of the Kingdom Animal) known simply as A.C.U.R.(A cure) in common speech was founded by Sir. Akiva Aleron, Greater Road Runner, of the late 1700's of Antichthon Rule.
While bipedal beings-Werehumans, elven folk and scant humans, were establishing different sects and rules after the 'Stone Dragons War.*' The Animal Kingdom had also suffered a fatal and shaken hand. The war of the Stone Dragons involved everyone, in one way or another and had caused rifts and tears in the balance of natural Order. Kingdom Animalia and the Humanoid Nations were not meant to be as intertwined as they had become. Laws were needed to control the Animal kind, as they had gotten out of control towards the final years.
Akiva Aleron, a humble Road Runner, offered his aid to the five Stone Dragons at the end of the war. He was not turned away in his aid, though he was like the mouse to the lion for his size and power. They taught him law and Rule, and how to reason the right from the wrong, and read lies. How to judge fairly in accordance to the law and the punishment to place down.
He was titled Sir. Akiva Aleron, First Greater Road Runner of the Altus Curator of Regnum Bestia. His first official duty had been to find those like himself, fellow Road Runners who would join in the service and learn the laws.
Sir. Akiva left to bring back those to learn under the Rules he had been taught, how to be of the higher beings and serve justice as was needed. It was not for a year that he returned to the Stone Dragons.
To his side he gathered five score and 13 Runners of varied ages. The Stone Dragons taught them, and tested them, and turned some away who were not fitting. Of the 113 birds that Akiva brought back, 89 were accepted and titled into the Doctrine. The Laws were writ and given to the birds to take upon their journeys, to spread the rule of the High beings, to practice knowledge and intelligence instead of dumb brutality. The Kingdom Animalia was not to fall to the ways of the Humanoid kind, for their ways were to late to be changed.
Sir Akiva Aleron and his 89 High Guardians spread to the North, South, East and West as far as their kind could go and survive. In the Central, near where Akiva himself first gave over to serve Law and Preservation a high Court was settled. This was called
Altus Villa of Scientia. (High Court of Knowledge) Akiva and six of the Highest Learned of the Road Runner Kind stayed. These Seven, in the Court of Knowledge dictated and read, and watched over the rules. They sent word to their brethren of news or changes, and in turned received information of the changes, good and bad, from the others of the Animal Kingdom. For Ours is Vast, more than human kind, and it takes many years of toil to change, but we are flexible, we change as time does change it's seasons. Kingdom Animalia would not fall to being dumb brutes again as they were in the dawn of Antichthon.
As these words were sent, so too did the first come...
Cerus Salim, a young female born of one of the first Guardians came to Sir Akiva Aleron. She bowed to him and the Six of the Court and asked for knowledge, to be taught as her mother was taught, in the ways of the Rule and Law, so she too may be just.
The Court had not expected this, for there was their flaw to not consider time and age. Akiva himself, in these three years had begun to gray and could not travel far.
"Child of a bright star. Tell us your name and from where you have come" asked the great leader of the learned animals, to this young bird.
"Nyuki Takara, sir, my mother was of those you gathered first and she traveled with you, calling for others to join and be of the just and learned. Where some, she told me, had left she and others did stay with you, and a year travel did you return here Lord.
My mother traveled North to the lands that see little sun. There the Law was writ and there do the beasts of our Kindgom Animalia survive without brutishness or great hatred for the Humanoid Kind."
"Little Treasure, tell us now why you have come?" He asks her now, remembering her mother as a promising bird.
"Lord, I wish to follow after my mother. It is my choice to, should you choose me to learn under you. You and the Dragons of Stone are the Great leaders of the Animalia Law so we may be ourselves, and not become human."
And he saw that there was greatness in her eyes, and an honesty of love for the Justice and Right that prevailed in her home. He took her under his wing, and the seven of the Court of knowledge taught the young bird the ways of law. "You shall be called Cerus Salim, to Grow Peace. You will lean."
In time the word had spread that they would teach Road Runners who came to learn. Not all would pass, for the law was strict on who could be of the Guardians. But they came and learned. Sir Akiva Aleron passed from this world, his death was celebrated, rather than mourned for the legacy he and the Stone Dragons had created. So it was made that the High Court of Knowledge was to hold Seven of the brightest, and teach the young the laws, that there may be Guardians throughout the Lands to watch of the Kingdom Animalia, in all it's glory grow in justice and rule.
Rules Regarding the Guardian Race.- Strictly Road Runners, this takes that bird off the general playable species.
- They are By Partisan, never choosing sides.
- Guardians are Just and Righteous, they know the code of Rules, and act as judge upon the wicked and vicious.
- Attacking a Guardian is grounds for exile or death depending on severity of the Attack. Other beasts will uphold the law.
- If it seems that a Guardian has gone 'rogue' or is not upholding the laws, another may be called into service.
- To summon Guardians send a line to one of the Guardian players, if one is not present on the board already. Call for court, and the Guardian shall preside over diction.
- To call a Guardian means there is something serious. They are not going to be often played, but will be mute observers.
- Guardians preside over Animal Matters, if it's the Character owner themselves, it's addressed to the Admin.
*The Stone Dragons War is a reference to Lady Aime's Series 'How I Became a Dragon.' The war was colossal and some lands are still recovering today from the damage wrought. A carved memorial of the high beings stands in testimony of the power of those who ended the war.
